Overview

With the management philosophy "Aica Group creates new value through continuous innovation under the principle of coexistence and contributes to society", we focus on developing and providing products that address social issues, investing in human capital, and responding to climate change challenges in order to embody the philosophy.
In this context, we are aligned with Osaka/Kansai Expo’s theme "Designing Future Society for Our Lives" which aims to be a "problem-solving Expo" contributing to the resolution of societal issues such as carbon neutrality and the achievement of SDGs, and basic planning and design of the venue based on these principles, and we are proud to support the event as a supplier.

Specifically, for the construction of the shared restroom (Restroom 5), we supplied 5 products: high-pressure melamine floor tiles "Melamine Tile," fire retardant decorative panels "CERARL," two types of adhesives for installation of CERARL and the acrylic resin-based artificial marble "Corian®" used in the "Aica Artificial Marble Counter." All of these products are durable and easy to maintenance and contribute to the development of the venue for Osaka/Kansai Expo, which attracts visitors from around the world.

Furthermore, to encourage the active participation and growth of younger generations, a total of 20 facilities were selected through an open call for design proposals targeting promising young architects. Restroom 5, which uses our sponsored products, was designed by Takashi Yonezawa Architect. Osaka/Kansai Expo aims to promote the realization of a circular economy by thoroughly implementing reduce and reuse practices. For Restroom 5, the design anticipates disassembly and reassembly of units for relocation and reuse after the event. Post-expo, the building materials, fixtures, and equipment will be matched through "EXPO CIRCULAR MARKET MYAKU-ICHI!" platform for reuse and reinstallation at new sites.

Supplied products

High-Pressure Melamine Floor Tile

 "Melamine Tile"

Our flagship product, Melamine Tile combines the advantages of "HPL" known for their durability and ease of maintenance, with the benefits of "PVC-based floor materials," widely used in commercial flooring. It is highly resistant to heel marks, rubber caster stains, and cigarette burns, and can be easily cleaned with a water wipe even when dirty. Since it does not require waxing, it maintains its aesthetic appearance without the labor and costs associated with waxing.

Fire retardant Decorative Panels "CERARL"

CERARL is a panel formed by laminating melamine resin-impregnated decorative layer with a special fire retardant core under high temperature and pressure. It features hardness, strength, durability, heat resistance, and fire retardant, suitable for demanding applications. It has obtained certification as a fire retardant material from the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism in Japan. Originally a major success as a kitchen panel in the 1990s, its recognition in the construction industry has grown. Today, it is used not only in kitchens but also on walls in hospitals, schools, and transportation facilities.

Construction Adhesives

We are a leading manufacturer of melamine decorative panels and has been developing various resin products since 1936, when we introduced Japan’s first urea resin adhesive. In addition to building materials such as HPL and wall coverings, we offer a wide range of adhesives suitable for different materials and installation environment. This time, we are pleased to provide two construction adhesive products for Melamine Tile and CERARL.

AICA Artificial Marble Counter

This is a counter made with our proprietary processing technology for Corian®, a top brand of metacrylic resin-based artificial marble board developed by DuPont in the United States. It excels in beauty, durability, design flexibility, ease of installation, and maintenance. In addition to counters, we also offer products such as lavatory bowls and integrated counter-bowl units.
